Exploring Star Wars: Skeleton Crew – A Bold New Adventure with Jude Law

Story by Mitchell Smith

Hello everybody, today I’m taking a look at the new Star Wars series “Skeleton Crew” with Jude Law. This is an interesting series and takes a bit of painfully watching as an older Star Wars fan to get into the series. The first episode establishes 4 young characters who come together and end up on an unlikely journey. It has a “Stranger Things”, “Goonies”, coming of age vibe to it. In comes Laws character Jod Na Nawood who is an old time space pirate.

They may have been tapping into “Pirates of The Caribbean”, here I’m not sure, but I would have rather seen a much more notable Star Wars space pirate Hondo Ohnaka, even though he would have been in his later years during this time frame. It appears this is an attempt to draw in a young crowd that will grow with the main cast. It does have some interesting story that develops through the first 6 episodes. One of the more interesting characters is the Droid SM-33. He provides the adult pull on this show in my opinion.

I’m not going to say this is a great or even good show, it has its shinning moments and as we have seen with other shows like “The Acolyte”, people are still not ready to move away from the original characters of Star Wars, and it’s probably just a matter of time before this new story gets the plug pulled. Overall this is worth checking out if you are an open minded Star Wars fan or just enjoy the idea of exploring space and what may lie out beyond our explored universe. Have a great week everyone.
